Custom Electronics Build: K-pop Demon Hunter Weapons

One of the most creative commissions we've taken on: a full set of custom weapons for a K-pop Demon Hunter cosplay, with integrated lighting and electronic effects. This build pushed the electronics side of what 3D printed props can do.

The Brief

The client was cosplaying a character from a K-pop-inspired Demon Hunter aesthetic — think dark fantasy, sharp lines, and weapons that needed to glow and hold their own under stage lighting. The requirement was functional LEDs integrated into the finished props, controllable and battery-powered.

Design and Print

The weapons were designed specifically for this commission — no existing file existed for this character. We modeled the geometry to accommodate LED strips and wire routing from the start, with hollow channels designed into the blades and handles. Printing in black PETG gave the best base for the dark colorway.

Electronics Integration

RGB LED strips were routed through the internal channels, with a small rechargeable lithium battery and a micro-controller hidden in the grip section of each weapon. A recessed micro-USB port allows charging without disassembly. The controller allows the client to cycle between solid glow, pulse, and flash modes via a button hidden in the pommel.

Finishing

Matte black base, metallic dry-brush on the edges, and a deep purple tint on the LED diffuser panels gave the weapons their final look: dark, sharp, and lit from within. Under convention lighting or stage conditions, the effect is exactly what the brief called for.
