The first blaster ever fired on screen in Star Wars. The DH-17 blaster pistol answered the boarding of the Tantive IV in the opening minutes of A New Hope, which makes it less a prop and more a piece of cinema history you can holster.
The DH-17 Blaster Pistol That Opened the Saga
Ribbed barrel shroud, compact receiver, slim scope rail — the trilogy reference survives intact at one-to-one scale. The grip panels print with a fine texture that reads as checkering once painted, and the scope rail accepts a printed optic included in the parts list. Matte black with silvered edge wear is the canonical look, and the geometry gives weathering products honest recesses to work with. Being a compact print, it assembles in an evening and forgives beginners generously.
A First Prop Done Right: the DH-17 Blaster Pistol
That forgiving nature has made it the classic first build: painters learn edge highlighting on it, troopers buy it as a backup sidearm, collectors stand it beside their Death Star diorama. Fleet trooper helmets and vests pair naturally with it, and photographers love how the ribs catch rim lighting. Yours is produced when ordered — never shelf stock — with PLA, PETG and ABS all on the menu, plus a once-over before it travels. Begin where the galaxy began: the DH-17 blaster pistol belongs in the first scene of your collection.
