From inside a walking fortress, the battlefield looked very different. The AT-AT Driver Armor is the full combat plate worn by Imperial All Terrain Armored Transport pilots during the Battle of Hoth in The Empire Strikes Back.
AT-AT Driver Armor: Commanding the Empire's Walking Fortresses
General Veers' AT-AT column marched on Echo Base under the command of pilots who guided their walkers from enclosed cockpits, impervious to most Rebel weapons and mechanically closing on the power generator that would end the battle. The AT-AT driver armor reflected the vehicle-operator nature of the role — closer to a pilot's kit than a soldier's — and its olive-brown palette set it apart from every other suit in the Imperial inventory. Their role resurfaced at Takodana in The Force Awakens.
